For anyone who follows Katmandu’s metal gigs, Rage Hybrid needs no introduction. Maybe it is because of the choice of songs they choose to cover onstage or just the raw energy they bring forward, they have the crowd head banging to their music almost every single time. With a vibe of Slipknot and a metalcore twist to their music, these young lads are an unlikely outcome of the old neighbourhood of Joche.

After a long week of anticipation, exchanging endless text messages and rescheduling the meeting with Sareen, it finally boiled down to that moment.A series of zig-zag lanes in Maitidevi led us to Monkey Temple’s jam room, a small and dark, almost square space with a big sign at the centre that read ‘NO SMOKING!’ Girish was out taking a smoke with BJ. Sareen, flaunting his Gibson SG, joined in later with Bikram.Sareen wanted to begin by introducing me to the band’s history. Monkey Temple, formed in the classrooms of St.Xaviers school back in 1999, had an entirely different line-up then. Black Bee and the Flower, their first and only album, was released in 2002. Their first single Stoned @ 9.20 was a popular radio hit of which WAVE wrote in January 2002, “Judging from their first single Stoned @ 9.20, and their love for music, right now it looks like Monkey Temple is ready to plunge into the depths!”

Spinning the disc, playing the tracks and entertaining people through “music”, more specifically on the dance floor. That’s the fascinating job description of a Disc Jockey (DJ) but of course, the story behind how one lands up there is more than just what meets the eye.Well, one cannot deny the fact that the scope for DJing in Nepal has been widening day by day, thanks to the increasing rate of clubbing culture and when all the scratching and turntables were at an early stage here, you know, before they started growing like at the rate of mushrooms, there stood one guy whose passion and love for DJing earned him more success in the respective scene than he actually expected. The name you’re looking for is Biru Man Prajapati a.k.a. DJ B’Man!!

Rajendra Sharma, or more popularly Robin Sharma, was born in a Jhapa village. After finishing his schooling from Darjeeling, he went on to get a Master’s degree in English from Tribhuvan University (TU) where he later joined as a lecturer in the English Department. The lecturer also doubled up as an English news reader and then as sub-editor at Radio Nepal. But as his passion was always radio, he left the lecturer’s job that he held for 10 years to take up full-time position at Radio Nepal.

Born in Terathum, but raised in Kathmandu , this singing lark’s birthday falls on the 14th of April.Makes the most of her free time by giving her house a good spring clean and furnishing it, bringing in new furniture and throwing old ones out. She claims she is content in doing everything by herself.Claims that she never gets time alone, but loves the company of her husband and her eight-year-old daughter. On days off, at home, she likes to play music real loud. “We make so much noise, sometimes I’m scared the neighbours will complain”, she laughs.
