A rare breed veteran Nepali singer has tried virtually all genre of music. He won the loyal fans for each genre of music like, folk, modern, Bhajan and playback as well. Veteran singer Madhu chhetri is all set for his first solo album in his 40 – years of musical career. Not surprisinmadhu chettrig, considering the singer has already made bash with hits like “Saili ra maili poila gayachan”, “Phulai phula matra pani”, “Hurile uudauna sakena” under his belts which made him veteran in the music industry.

You are debuting with your first solo album after 4o years of musical break. any particular reason for it?
Yes, it is my first solo venture with collaboration of Arun Tiwari. But I was not totally out from this field. Directly or indirectly, I was in touch with this field. It is just that I didn’t do any musical venture. That’s all. But, Arun personally met me and talk about a joint effort. Even I got impressed by his lyrical aptitude and finally we made a decision to do a new album.

You have spent a lot of time in this field. What is your learning from music and life?
Music is being like a culture of the world. I think, this is an art and art is reflection of the society. We have to just keep moving on. Always we should come up with a new innovation. Life is also like that. Everyday, it come up with something special but it’s up to us whether we notice it or not. Everything is getting globalize so you have to keep your minds open and creative. We should make our self able to move with world.

Has your musical career shaped up the way you really wanted?
I exactly don’t know how my musical career should have gone. I never planned anything. But, I am happy at this moment of life. I have done every genre of music. Somehow, people respect me for my hard work and creation. I have sung modern, folk, Bhajan, film and others too. I think I am lucky and I don’t have regret for how I have been shaped.

Would you like to tell yourself a folk singer of a modern singer?
I would like to be known as a singer. Just as a singer which gave me inner composure and good memories. Luckily, I became able to create such songs and sung those songs which people remember throughout their lives. Those songs are just not hit and after a time go out from the memories.

After forty years, you have worked with lyricist of young generation. Did it meet your expectation?
I can sense the creativity of Arun. He is the lyricist who respect and understand art. Personally, I am really glad to work with him and proud of him as well. His songs are based on human philosophy and at the same time he can also penned the lyrics according to the commercial market. It’s his lyrics that pulled me to come up with new vibes of composition and new taste of voice.

Tell us something about your new album.
it’s my first solo album in my musical career. The album will be blend of six different songs. Songs “Ek juni jindagima, duita jeevan bachnuparyo – Dherai patak khusiharu mana bhitrai vachnuparyo”, will be the promotional song of the album. With the solo lyrics of Arun Tiwari, i have my solo vocal and composition.

Which do you think the most important; Lyrics, composition or the singing?
It’s my personal view; that I took lyrics as female and composition as male. If we successes to blend or combine it in a precise way with best singing than fresh baby will get born. So, I don’t think particularly only one will play a vital role.

Do you have any favorite singer in this contemporary musical scenario?
I really appreciate Shiva Pariyar as a most blessed and talented singer. There are lots but I think, Shiva will be doing nice creation for a long run.

Thank you for your time.
