Say No To Global Warming

June 8th, 2010

On June 5th, 2010, World Environment Day was celebrated in many different ways in various parts of our country and it was good to witness the growing concern among people regarding environmental conservation. Well, one event that strived its best to make others aware about the subject was held at Gurukul organized by Broader Green Society Nepal. BGSN is a non-profit, non government environmental organization working towards the country’s environmental conservation. The show in itself was a huge package with many things happening from a special presentation by environment expert Mr. Ngamindra Dahal on Global Warming to screening of a documentary hosted by former Miss Nepal Payal Shakya to winners’ declaration of inter-school art and essay competition.

However, the highlight of the event was our beloved singers Sugam Pokharel and Naren Limbu being honored as the environment ambassadors for the organization. Both the artists performed a song titled “Batawaran” especially dedicated to greener Nepal and they will soon be recording it as well. BGSN also declared its Green Week 2010 from June 5th- 12th and within the duration, it will be carrying out many activities including a cycle rally to end the celebration.

Overall, the event as a whole was very enlightening and each person present there is sure to be affected by the things explained one way or another. It may have been a small effort but getting our act together will have a huge impact. The message was loud and clear: Go Green and Say No To Global Warming!
