Ajar Jangam Carving His Own Niche
January 29th, 2010
He has inherited little of fame’s privileges. Nearly famous on his father’s account, Ajar Jangam wants to create his own identity; in his case, name is more hindrance than help. Take note, that surname Jangam should ring a bell. Yes, he’s genetically related to legendary “Deepak Jangam” and there was no escaping the fact that pa is a famous man. But for Ajar, the similarity stops right there, he wants his music not his name to do the talking… hear hear the boy is on a mission. A national level gymnast who bagged two gold medals at recently held 5th National Games, Ajar is very “flexible”. A trait that is quite evident in his musicology as well; he writes, composes and sings. And is ready to offer the single “Sanu Maya”-that should be on radio, pretty soon.
When asked about the whole package, album, Ajar flashes his impish smile and says, “How, when… HOW??? Thanks to load shedding, recording is virtually pralayzed”. That is just S.A.D. Aren’t we supposed to be the second richest country in water resource? But then why are we even complaining? No use… anyways back to the topic, focus on Ajar, Cheeguz concentrate!!
Little Master Jangam is currently busy polishing his guitar skill at Nepal Music Center and is also learning Madal. And while on the topic “Jangam + Music”, how can we not include the maestro, Mr. Deepak Jangam. When asked he characteristically candid, describes son Ajar as “a good voice with fair knowledge of music; But he’s totally different to me in other words”… we agree!!
Well it is hard to follow in the footsteps of a legend, as the sons of all famous personalities will doubtlessly discover. But Ajar has a plan, to create his own unique portfolio… music that’ll be oh so Ajar; like his name he wants to be an immortal presence in Nepali music scene, well that sounds good on paper; but best wishes wouldn’t hurt… so here’s wishing the boy with stars in his eyes… all the best!!
