The rapid growth and development of the Nepali music industry is often attributed to the genre of ’sugam sangeet’ and with this particular genre celebrating its 100 years of existence in the country, its transition into modern times have been smooth albeit with numerous hiccups. The fact that the current Nepali music is based on the achievements of ’sugam sangeet’ of the past 100 years goes a long way in defining its importance. And commemorating 100 years of ’sugam sangeet’ last Wednesday, the husband and wife duo of Rambhakta Jojiju released a musical album, ‘Chino’.

With dreams of their respective goals in music, the duo began working together for a collective purpose and have been together for the past one and a half decade and ‘Chino’ is their third album to have had hit the market. Their second, ‘Chayan’ was a successful one which garnered them a rather big fan following, besides bagging numerous awards including the prestigious Hits FM Music Awards.

Released under the banner of Santana Records, the music has been provided by Kiran Kandel. Comprising of a total of nine songs including the remixed version of the popular song ‘Jaha Bhamar Cha’, those lending their lyrical material on it include Prakash Sayami, Nabaraj Lamsal, Ramesh Chitiz, Bishwonath Prem, Shyma Kharl, Dipin Agasti and Raju Nepal. Three music videos from the album directed by Sangeeta Shrestha and Deepak Shree have also been released simultaneously. Here’s wishing the dynamic duo and their new album ‘Chino’ all our very best!
