Our very own pop star Sugam Pokharel’s personal website www.sugampokharel.com.np has been reportedly been hacked and subsequently blocked. When we search the site through google, we see a message that reads “This web site at dmr.tw has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences.” The warning message further says “Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system. Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners”. Advisory provided by Google about the site says “Site is listed as suspicious - visiting this web site may harm your computer. Part of this site was listed for suspicious activity 1 time(s) over the past 90 days.

The last time Google visited this site was on 2009-06-16, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on the same date. Malicious software includes 6 exploit(s), 1 trojan(s).” Google Advisory answers this questions ‘Has this site acted as an intermediary resulting in further distribution of malware? As “Over the past 90 days, dmr.tw appeared to function as an intermediary for the infection of 13 site(s) including davidashleys.com/, saesa.gov.ge/, myfloridahomeagent.com/. This site has hosted malicious software over the past 90 days. It infected 7 domain(s), including saesa.gov.ge/, trinityportfolios.com/, f97.ru/.” How did this happen? Google Advisory page says “In some cases, third parties can add malicious code to legitimate sites, which would cause us to show the warning message”. These warning messages only come when we go through google search for Sugam Pokharel’s personal website. If we directly enter the website www.sugampokharel.com.np the viruses starts popping in to your computer.
This is rather a sad development for the fan’s of Sugam’s Pokharel, especially those residing abroad. Hope Sugam, along with the technical team will sort out this virus issue soon.
